History of UFFL IV
The original UFFL was created in 1995 by league commissioner, Dave Torreano. The league was founded in El Paso, TX and consisted of ten butterbar lieutenants attending the Air Defense Artillery Officer Basic Course at Fort Bliss. The first UFFL champion was Matthew Lambert.
The league then moved to Fort Bragg, NC in 1996 with a group of new owners, all soldiers from 3rd Battalion (Airborne), 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. Brian Thorne and the Mustangs dominated the league on his way to the title.
The following year, 1997, the Wolverines and Dave Torreano ("Da Commish") defeated Brian in the championship game and claimed the crown.
UFFL II and UFFL III were created in 1998 after an overwhelming reponse by fantasy football owners all over the country to join the original UFFL league.
1998 Winners: UFFL - Big Dawgs (Joe Reither), UFFL II - Fighting Irish (Larry Stier), UFFL III - Bounty Hunters (Dave Torreano).
The league expanded again in 1999 and UFFL IV was created. UFFL IV is a keeper league with a standard serpentine draft.
1999: After winning the UFFL Championship in 1998, Joe Reither joined UFFL IV and proceeded to claim his 2nd UFFL Title with the Big Dawgs. The Big Dawgs rolled through the Wales Division with an 11-2 regular season record and defeated Dave Torreano and En Fuego in the Championship Game 169-151. With Edgerrin James, Marshall Faulk, and Jimmy Smith returning next year, the Big Dawgs will be tough to beat in 2000.
2000: And the Big Dawgs we're tough to beat as they cruised to a 10-3 regular season record and claimed their 2nd UFFL IV Championship in as many years, defeating the overmatched En Fuego squad and Dave Torreano 173-132.
2001: The question heading into the 2001 season was, "Can someone beat the Big Dawgs?" And for most of the season, noone could. That is until the Championship Game when two time bridesmaid Dave Torreano and his En Fuego squad got their revenge, upsetting the Dawgs 177-126. En Fuego was trully on fire after pulling off a midseason trade to get Antowain Smith, Joe Horn, and Curtis Conway as they finished the season on a nine game winning streak.
2002: Can anyone besides the Big Dawgs and En Fuego make it to the Championship Game? Time to step up to the plate. The league says good-bye to Ron Christy and Atlantic Icons after one season and welcomes the new owner, Brian Prescott and Canton Collection.
The answer to the preseason question was yes as two championship newcomers faced off in the title game. Chris Reed and Franklin Bulldogs defeated Mike Obstgarten and L.I. Executioners in a high scoring finale and claimed the UFFL IV Championship.
2003: Ken Daube (Ill Tempered Sea Bass) and Brian Prescott (Canton Collection) finished the regular season 11-2 but it was Ken claiming the Regular Season Championship by .16 pts. That's a whopping 16 rushing yards. The Sea Bass then set a playoff record win in the semifinals scoring almost 212 pts. Powered by stud RBs Priest Holmes and Jamal Lewis, Sea Bass dispatched Canton Collection in the Championship Game, claiming their first UFFL IV Championship.
2004: After back to back 5-8 records, an appearance in the COC tournament, and a name change, Larry Stier and Long Shot dominated the 2004 regular season with his 12-1 record, tying an all leagues UFFL record. Behind a balanced lineup of Daunte Culpepper, Curtis Martin, Rudi Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Michael Clayton, and Antonio Gates, Long Shot shot down Andy Conrad and The Gamblers by 57 pts in the Championship Game. The other major story was the final chapter in the decline of the once mighty Big Dawgs who "qualified" for the COC tournament after three straight championship appearances ('99-'01). Can the Dawgs start a new story in 2005 with stud RB Willis McGahee and declining stud RB Ahman Green? We shall see.
2005: Big Dawgs rebounded with a 9-4 record and a division title. Dave Torreano and En Fuego posted double digit wins with a 11-2 record and the Regular Season Championship. But the story of 2005 was Mike Obstgraten and L.I. Executioners as he upset En Fuego 140-138 in the UFFL IV Championship Game after edging Air Bandits for the Wales division title with a regular season record of 7-6. Mike also went on to defeat the other UFFL Champions, claiming the 2005 Ultimate Championship.
2006: Larry Stier and Long Shot won his 2nd title in three years after finishing the season with a 11-2 mark. Long Shot defeated regular season champion Albert Leach and Floating Fecal Logs, also 11-2, in the championship game 136-109. The win avenged a week 9 loss to the Logs which decided the regular season championship. Larry also won the 2006 Ultimate Championship, defeating the other UFFL champions during week 17. Long Shot's roster included all-pros Carson Palmer, Steven Jackson, and Frank Gore.
Take a look back at the 1999 season, the 2000 season, the 2001 season, the 2002 season, the 2003 season, the 2004 season, the 2005 season, or the 2006 season.

The 2002 Season
2002: Can anyone besides the Big Dawgs and En Fuego make it to the Championship Game? Time to step up to the plate. The league says good-bye to Ron Christy and Atlantic Icons after one season and welcomes the new owner, Brian Prescott and Canton Collection.
The answer to the preseason question was yes as two championship newcomers faced off in the title game. Chris Reed and Franklin Bulldogs defeated Mike Obstgarten and L.I. Executioners in a high scoring finale and claimed the UFFL IV Championship.

The 2001 Season
2001: The question heading into the 2001 season was, "Can someone beat the Big Dawgs?" And for most of the season, noone could. That is until the Championship Game when the two time bridesmaid En Fuego squad got their revenge, upsetting the Dawgs 177-126. The En Fuego squad was trully on fire after pulling off a midseason trade to get Antowain Smith, Joe Horn, and Curtis Conway as they finished the season on a nine game winning streak.
