History of the UFFL III
The UFFL was created in 1995 by league commissioner, Dave Torreano.
The league was founded in El Paso, TX and consisted of ten butterbar lieutenants
attending the Officer Basic Course at Fort Bliss. The first UFFL champion was Matthew Lambert.
The league then moved to Fort Bragg, NC in 1996 with a group of new owners, all soldiers from 3rd Battalion (Airborne), 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. Brian Thorne and the Mustangs dominated the league on his way to the title.
The following year, 1997, the Wolverines and Dave Torreano ("Da Commish") defeated Brian in the championship game and claimed the crown.
UFFL II and UFFL III were created in 1998 after an overwhelming reponse by fantasy football owners all over the country to join the original UFFL league.
1998: Dave Torreano and his Bounty Hunters defeated Josh Buckley and the Da Bubbas to claim the first ever UFFL III Championship.
1999: Back to back championships for Dave Torreano (a.k.a. "Da Commish") and his Bounty Hunters. The Bounty Hunters finished six points behind Robos Exterminators for the Wales Division Title but rolled through the playoffs and defeated Ron Chancey and The Predators 137-98.
2000: 2000 proved to be a banner for Dave Torreano as he picked up Championships in UFFL, UFFL II, and UFFL III. The Bounty Hunters claimed their third title in a row defeating Brian Prescott and Perfect Storm 125-102. And thus a dynasty was created.
Can anyone challenge the Bounty Hunters in 2001. Or can the dynasty continue?
2001 marked the end of the dynasty for the Bounty Hunters. Charles Yearout and The Castaways did the honors, defeating the Hunters by 0.4 pts. The Castaways then defeated Robos Exterminators in the Championship Game. Marshall Faulk proved to be too much for the rest of the league. Unexplicably The Castaways decided not to defend their title in 2002.
2002: We welcomed long time UFFL II owners Lance Thomas and Jeff Feldman to UFFL III and said goodbye to the aforementioned Charles Castaway and Mike Strand. In his first season with UFFL III, Jeff Feldman and Ray Finkle defeated regular season champion Lance Thomas and Air Express to claim the title.
2003: Brian Thorne and Red Devils claimed the Regular Season Championship but was upset in the semifinals by wildcard winner Bounty Hunters. The Championship Game pitted former champions Dave Torreano and Jeff Feldman. Priest Holmes' MVP performance was not enough for Ray Finkle as they got whipped up by the Bounty Hunters by 40 pts. The title was the fourth for Dave Torreano and the Bounty Hunters in six years.
2004: Chadd Maia and Danville Doppelgangers migrated to UFFL III from UFFL II in 2004. Behind the duo of Curtis Martin and Domanick Davis, Danville went on to defeat Joe Reither and Little Dawgs in the Championship Game from a wildcard position. Chadd now has Championship Titles in UFFL II (2002) and UFFL III.

The 2001 Season
2001 marked the end of the dynasty for the Bounty Hunters. Charles Yearout and The Castaways did the honors, defeating the Hunters by 0.4 pts. The Castaways then defeated Robos Exterminators in the Championship Game. Marshall Faulk proved to be too much for the rest of the league. Unexplicably The Castaways decided not to defend their title in 2002.
